2 in 1: Edmund Optics 55-350 1.0X GoldTL Telecentric Lens with Point Grey Scorpion Camera
High Resolution Telecentric Lens for Measurement and Gauging
Up to 5 MegaPixels, 3.45μm Pixel Size Sensors
Up to 2/3″, C-Mount Telecentric Lens
Magnification from 0.06X to 1X
TECHSPEC® GoldTL™ Telecentric Lenses were designed specifically for machine vision and metrology applications. The unique focusable design allows for working distance adjustment, while still providing <0.2° telecentricity. These lenses also feature high resolutions, low distortions, and are available for ½” or 2/3” sensors. TECHSPEC® GoldTL™ Telecentric Lenses have a front filter thread for easy integration of color filters, polarizers or other mounted components. Both the iris and focusing adjustment positions can be fixed by set screws to remain secure in high vibration environments.

The lens is clearly marked “1.0X 55350”, identifying it as the Edmund Optics Stock #55-350 1.0X GoldTL telecentric lens. Edmund Optics currently lists this model as a 1.0X, 2/3-inch focusable telecentric lens specifically designed for machine vision and metrology. It provides an adjustable working distance while maintaining telecentricity below 0.2°, helping minimize perspective and magnification errors when measuring objects at slightly different depths. Edmund Optics
Unlike a conventional imaging lens, a telecentric lens maintains nearly constant magnification as object distance changes within its usable depth range. This makes the system particularly useful for precision gauging, edge measurement, dimensional inspection, component verification, and automated optical inspection where accurate object geometry is more important than conventional photographic perspective.
The #55-350 has 1.0X magnification, supports sensors up to 2/3 inch, and provides an approximately 8.8 × 6.6 mm field of view when used with a full 2/3-inch sensor. Its working distance is adjustable from approximately 98 to 123 mm, and its aperture can be adjusted from approximately f/6 to f/25. The lens uses a standard C-mount camera interface and includes locking adjustments for both focus and iris, which is useful in industrial installations where vibration could otherwise alter optical settings. Edmund Optics
The lens is part of Edmund Optics' GoldTL family, which was designed for high-resolution measurement and gauging applications. Edmund specifies the series for sensors up to 5 megapixels, with low distortion, high resolution, front filter-thread compatibility, and telecentricity of less than 0.2°. Edmund Optics
Mounted to the telecentric lens is a Point Grey Research Scorpion SCOR-250M-CS IEEE-1394 digital camera. The label visible on the camera identifies the exact model as SCOR-250M-CS, serial number 5080093, manufactured by Point Grey Research in Canada.
Point Grey's Scorpion family was developed for demanding industrial imaging applications requiring digital image acquisition, external triggering, and computer control. The camera platform communicates through a 6-pin IEEE-1394 / FireWire interface, which carries digital image data and can also supply camera power when connected to a suitable powered FireWire interface. ManualZilla
The Scorpion platform supports computer-controlled exposure, gain, triggering, video format selection, and image acquisition through Point Grey's FlyCapture software/SDK. Point Grey documentation describes the Scorpion as an IIDC/DCAM-compatible IEEE-1394 industrial-camera platform designed for machine-vision applications. ManualZilla
The Scorpion enclosure measures approximately 50 × 50 × 40 mm, weighs approximately 125 g without a lens, supports C- or CS-mount optics, and provides external trigger and general-purpose I/O functionality. The platform operates from approximately 8–32 VDC and includes firmware-upgrade capability over IEEE-1394. ManualZilla
Together, the Point Grey camera and Edmund Optics telecentric lens form a useful digital measurement system for applications requiring precise geometry and repeatable magnification. The camera captures the image electronically while the telecentric lens minimizes perspective distortion and magnification variation, making the assembly especially suitable for inspection and measurement of small mechanical, optical, electronic, and semiconductor components.
