Rent RequestThe Ericsson RSU 12 is a portable ribbon-fiber fusion splicing platform developed for field and laboratory fiber-optic installation and maintenance. Unlike a conventional single-fiber splicer, the RSU 12 can simultaneously handle ribbon assemblies containing up to 12 optical fibers, making it useful for high-fiber-count telecom and data-network applications.
Ericsson designed the RSU 12 with fixed V-groove radial fiber positioning and precision stepper-motor axial positioning. The system automatically compensates the fusion arc for environmental factors including altitude, temperature, humidity, and electrode condition.
The machine also incorporates a 6.5-inch TFT color display, approximately 35× fiber magnification, a built-in splice-protection heat oven, removable transport cover/handle, and storage for splice information.
